The Spiti is valley that's located in the high ranges of the Himalaya Mountain. The name 'Spiti' means "The Middle Land" that is the land between Tibet and India. The Spiti valley is located at the Trans Himalayas range on the Tibetan plateau where there is hardly any rain and its is snow covered almost all round the year. The location of Spiti is at the altitude of 4500 meters or 12000 feet with the temperature dropping at -35 degrees in winters and 30 degrees in summer.

The valley was once the part of the kingdom of Guge and then earlier the valley of Lahaul and Spiti became the part of the British East India Company in the 19th century. And after that the valley lies between the two world powers that's India and China. The road through which the people enters the Spiti remains open from June to September/October and it also allows the snow melts on the Kunzum-la-pass and also allows the vehicle to go through Kaza. There are regular bus service from Manali, which takes around 16 hours and it only stops once for taking refreshments. Culture: The Spiti valley is having the rich and mosaic culture. The valley of Spiti is culturally strong and is the center for the Buddhists. The special highlights or attractions includes the Ki Monastery and tabo Monastery which are known to be the oldest monasteries of the world and is also counted in the favorite spots of Dalai Lama. The Spiti valley is having the beautiful scenery and background which has been shot in 2006 in an Indian film Milarepa which was an adventurous tale about the Buddhism's famous Tibetan saints.
